Manyatsa Monyamane scoops up the Lizamore & Associates Mentorship prize the 30th Thami Mnyele Art Award

At 30th instalment of the inaugural Thami Mnyele Art Award on 23 September 2017, ManyatsaMonyamane(b.1989) was awarded the Lizamore & Associates Mentorship Prize. She was also awarded The Multi and New Media / Photography Merit Award for the work titled “Vusi Mkhube”.

The Lizamore Mentorship Prize entails a year-long mentorship from the Lizamore & Associates gallery and an established artist (to be selected) as well as a solo exhibition in 2018 at the gallery in Johannesburg.

Monyamane  graduated with a BTech (Photography) from Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa. Monyamane has participated in several group exhibitions, including Fresh Produce at Turbine Art Fair 2017. She was also awarded the Third Merit Award at the 2017 AbsaL’Atelier earlier this year.

The Thami Mnyele art exhibition may be viewed by the public free of charge at the Coen Scholtz Recreation Centre in Kempton Park from September 24 until October 15, daily including weekends from 8:00 to 16:00.
