Lizamore’s Spring Salon:
a glimpse of contemporary trends and talent.
Lizamore & Associates celebrate a new spring season with a salon-style group exhibition curated by Teresa Lizamore. Gallery regulars, Act One, will MC the opening event as well as orchestrate a performance and live interviews with selected artists.
Curator, Teresa Lizamore, takes her cue from the idea of 18th century large mixed art exhibitions, referred to as a salon, that displayed of the works of avant-garde artists. Lizamore reimagines the idea of the salon with contemporary South African artists. Through her selection, Lizamore explores trends, ideas, genres and styles that are prevalent in the contemporary art scene, seen through the eyes of a wide variety of contemporary artists. In true Lizamore style, she offers viewers and collector a selection of prospecting emerging talent, which she comfortably integrates with the work of sought-after South-African artists. “South Africa has so much creative talent with new artists emerging continuously. This exhibition allows for the exposure of established artists but also a number of emerging artists. The variety of works on exhibition creates an appetite for collectors and potential collectors to view works placed in Salon style and many a choice for selection” Teresa Lizaore says. Participating artists include Mandy Coppes-Martin, Fleur de Bondt, Ronél de Jager, Justin Dingwall, Robert A. Hamblin, Gawie Joubert, Banele Khoza, Lekau Matsena, Keneilwe Mokoena, Lebohang Motaung, Manyatsa Monyamane, Mashudu Nevhutalu, Sam Nhlengethwa, Walter Oltmann, Zolile Phetshane and Frank van Reenen amongs many amongst others.
