The Lizamore@Clairvaux outdoor sculpture garden was opened to the public in February 2016, in partnership with Rialheim ceramic factory which produces quirky ceramic items for the local and international market on the Clairvaux wine estate. This garden gallery of sculptural exhibitions, with the idyllic scenery of Robertson as a backdrop, offers visitors a unique experience and destination in Robertson.  The Robertson Wine Valley is concentrated along the Breede River Valley and the foothills of the surrounding Langeberg and Riviersonderend mountains. Located in the wine valley, Clairvaux is a beautiful fifth-generation family farm in Robertson. The farmhouse is a well-known landmark in Robertson and features in many books including ‘Great Houses of the Western Cape’.  The combination of the scenic mountain range views, the beautiful Clairvaux estate and contemporary sculpture provides an idyllic experience for a day visitor. Lizamore@Clairvaux presents contemporary sculpture to the Boland region which offer tourists and weekend visitors not only the opportunity to view interesting artworks, but also investment opportunities in contemporary South African sculpture.

Teresa Lizamore, director and curator of Lizamore & Associates says “We are excited to extend the gallery's reach with our sculpture garden at Clairvaux. It offers exposure to participating artists to a wider Cape audience. We are confident that visitors to Clairvaux will enjoy the experience. Curating sculpture is an ongoing passion of mine, as it allows me to create interactive spaces with which the viewer can engage.” Lizamore adds that this space offers investors the opportunity to view large sculptural artworks in a landscape setting, which often is much better suited than a traditional gallery. Visitors can expect to see sculpture by acclaimed South African sculptors, such as Strijdom van der Merwe, Marieke Prinsloo, Ruhan Janse van Vuuren, Frank van Reenen, Sam Allerton, Jaco Sieberhagen, Uwe Pfaff to name a few, when they visit the estate.
